Fergus had previously performed with Cork-based outfits such as A Cow In The Water and Bitchman. After Fergus started as a solo project in 2003, the group expanded to a two piece with the addition of Cian Megannety and, subsequently, a trio when Stanto joined on drums. Little is known about the band's early career. However, in 2006, the band contributed the track 'Santro' to the 'Music For Long Ears' compilation. The ::: madPooka also recorded tracks such as 'Don't Look Back Down', 'Goldmine' and 'Whirl!'
