PORTLAOISE, CO. LAOIS | 2009 - |
OVERVIEW Small Town Heroes is a rock band from Portlaoise. The origins of the group can be traced back to 2009 when John Delaney, David Harte and Niall Thompson formed a band called Rage Against The Guage. That outfit went through numerous line up changes until it settled on David Harte [Bass Guitar], Niall Thompson [Drums], Adam La Cumbre [Lead Guitar], Shaun Costello [Rhythm Guitar] and Matthew Delaney [Vocals]. After playing two gigs with those players, the five piece decided on a name change and became Small Town Heroes. In 2010, Small Town Heroes entered Irish Youth Music Awards. Later that year, an album featuring the best talent from that competition was released on Garage Records. Small Town Heroes contributed two tracks to the collection - 'Last Call' and 'Sophisticated Boom'.
