The band was formed out of the ashes of Max Von Rap. An early line up featured Marc Perry [Vocals & Percussion], Mick Finnegan [Guitar], Eoghain MacCarthy [Guitar], Kamla Das [Bass Guitar] and Johann DeWolf [Drums]. The group went through a succession of drummers with Jimi MacCarthy, Jerry Fehily [Ex-Shimpu Zig Zag and later of Hothouse Flowers] and Mick Collins [Ex-Max Von Rap] also performing with the project. The band recorded a demo in 1986 and a Dave Fanning Session the following year. However, Expresso Mambo never released any material during its existence. The group split in 1987 with Finnegan moving to the US. In 2002, Marc released a CD compilation of the band's work.
