| Roscommon probably isn't the first place you think about when you think about the Iriish music scene, however, the county has a strong musical heritage over many years and several genres. Notable names amonst the orignal Roscommon bands are The Marbles from Boyle who released the wonderful single 'In My Eye' in 1998, punk-rock favourites, Nerdlinger who dropped the 'Roadkill Stew' EP in 2001 or more recent flag-flyers We Town Criers who unleashed their impressive debut album 'Swing Beast' in 2013. The county is also known for producing fine musicians who have gone on to perform with and enhance the performance of other groups. Louse Gaffney and David Connor from Boyle are at the heart of Come On Live Long who released the wonderful 'Everything Fall' record in 2013. Drummer John Hanley performed with pop-rock outfit Cowboy X. He had previously played with Indie kids Mike TV. Acclaimed art-rock outfit Estel was formed in 1998 by two Roscommon sisters Sarah and Ashley Shiel. |
