DUBLIN | KILDARE | LONDON [UK] | 2008 - 2011 |
OVERVIEW Wonderland was girlband formed in 2008. The group was assembled by Louis Walsh and Kian Egan from Westlife through a series of auditions. The successful five girls were Sharon Condon, Jodi Albert, Corrina Durran, Leigh Learmont and Kasey Smith. While the lineup was revealed in December of that year, it was 18 months before the quintet found a name. Egan came up with the name after seeing a poster for the 2010 remake of Alice In Wonderland. The band then set out to conquer the pop world. They were chosen to support Westlife on their 'Where We Are Tour'. The band also spent time in the studio recording material for their debut single and album. That debut single, 'Not a Love Song' waas released on 25th February 2011. The chart performance of the single was disappointing - reaching #22 in Ireland and only #144 in the UK. The self-titled debut album which was released in June pefored better. However, in September, it was announced that Wonderland had been dropped by their record label. The band's split followed later that month. Since the split, Leigh has been pursuing a modelling career. Sharon has continued to pursue a musical career, releasing a debut solo single in February 2012. 2008 - Band formed 2011 - Release of 'Not A Love Song' single [25 February] - Release of 'Starlight' single [03 June] - Release of 'Wonderland' album [06 June] - Release of 'Nothing Moves Me Anymore' single [August] - Band confirm that they have split [28 September] |
