1985 - 1987

OVERVIEW The Wild Herrings was a Donegal-based band which was active between 1985 and 1987. The lineup featured Fiona Pender [Vocals & Saxophone], Michael Christie [Drums], John Kane [Guitar], Patsy O'Kane [Bass Guitar] and Irene Pender [Vocals]. The band played live, particularly around the North West area. While the band is not known to have released any material, The Wild Herrings recorded a Fanning Session. That session included 'Buy Me A Drink' 'Fat Politicians' and 'Crash & Burn'. The band split in 1987, however, Fiona, Michael, Patsy and John went on to perform together as The Malfunctions between 1987 and 1989. That band released the single 'Say Goodbye' in 1988. Michael, Patsy and John subsequently formed Georgia who released the classic singles 'Send Me High' and 'Technological Bridge To My Heart'. More recently Michael has been drumming with The Boxtie Band. Sisters Irene and Fiona re-emerged as The Pender Sisters and have been gigging around the Donegal/Derry area. 1985 - Band formed 1987 - Band split
