OVERVIEW The Walls formed in 1998 when Steve and Joe Wall recruited Rory Doyle (Drums) and Carl Harms, a Liverpudlian musician and programmer. Steve and Joe had previously been the axis of The Stunning, a successful Irish band in it's own right. In February 1999, The Walls set up their own label, Earshot Records, and released their first single, 'The Night I Called It A Day'. In the latter part of the year, the band ensconced themselves in studio for 4 months in an attempt to complete their debut album. In May 2000, the fruits of these sessions say the light of day when the band released 'Hi-Lo'. In September 2001, The Walls play to their biggest audience yet when they support U2 in front of 80,000 people at Slane Castle. 2004 - In February 2004, Carl Harms decided to leave the band to pursue his own musical interests. Jon O'Connell was recruited on Bass Guitar. 2005 - Release of 'Passing Through' as a web download [April] - Release of their second album 'New Dawn Breaking' [May] - Release of 'Black And Blue' single [September] - The Walls perform as part of the fourth series of Other Voices, Songs From A Room which was recorded in St. James Church in Dingle. The series is broadcast on RTE Television in the Spring of 2006. 2006 - The Walls represent Ireland at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas [10 - 19 March] 2010 - Release of 'Carrying The Fire' single [July] 2011 - Release of 'Bird In A Cage' EP [17 March] 2012 - Release of 'Stop The Lights album [09 March] |
