SLIGO 1981 - 1989 & 1994 -
OVERVIEW
Those Nervous Animals was a Sligo-based band which was active throughout the 1980s. The lineup featured Barry Brennan [Vocals], Seamie McGowan [Guitar], Padraig Meehan [Guitar], John Tobin [Keyboards], Trevor Knight [Keyboards], Eddie Lee [Bass Guitar] and Christy Behan [Drums]. There was a variety of other musicians who came and went over the years.

The band released a couple of singles on their own Dead Fly Records label before signing with Tara Records. 'Just What The Sucker Wanted' was released in 1983 followed by 'The Business Enterprise (My Friend John)' a year later.

With a growing profile in Ireland, the band signed with Tara Records and released the mini-album 'Hyperspace!' in 1985. The following year was a significant year for the band. They were invited to play at the Self Aid concert in the RDS. The concert, which was the largest staged in Ireland at that time, was designed to raise the awreness of the unemployment problem in the country. While the band's performance was somewhat marred by sound issues, the track 'The Business Enterprise' was included on the 'Live For Ireland' compilation. Later that year, a new single, 'Damien' was released.

The group split in 1989. However, in 1994, they got back together for a tour and released a single, 'Rocket Ship' on Danceline Records. The group has continued to get together periodically since then.
