CORK 2003 -
OVERVIEW
It started with the end of two groups, (Bass Odyssey and Loophole) and began with the birth of a new era. Four friends and their shared love of rock and roll music formed the band, Sylvia Saint, towards the end of 2003 in Cork City, Ireland. All parties involved have been involved in working bands for longer than they can remember, and when their last projects came to an end, the hunger to get back in the studio and write new material was greater than ever before. Graham Finn's musical career took off at a very early age when his first band, Emperor of Ice Cream was signed to Sony records when he was barely seventeen.

After this, he hooked up with Alan O'Keeffe to form Bass Odyssey, which went on to have widespread national and international acclaim and success, which included contributing to the soundtrack of the hit movie 'Deep Blue Sea'. Ian Walsh and John Kavanagh had played in a number of well-known local bands before playing together in Loophole. Ian also played alongside Graham and Alan in Bass Odyssey during what many people considered to be the most creative period of the bands life, just before its demise in 2003.

After the summer of 2003, the four became bored with not having a full-time gig and when the opportunity arose to play together, all jumped at the chance. Within minutes, the first tune was written, and within a day's rehearsal, everyone concerned knew this was the start of something special. 2004 will see the band going out on the road for the first time and the response from the first few exclusive showcases and demo recordings have been better than anyone could have ever imagined. Sylvia Saint's raw rock and roll sound and swagger will please rock fans both new and old, as their sound and influences are as broad and varied as most peoples record collections. But at the end of the day, its only rock and roll, but we like it, oh yes we do!!!!
