DUBLIN 2006 -
OVERVIEW
The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock is folk-influenced rock band based in Dublin. The band was formed in 2006 by Allen Blighe [Vocals, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Banjo & Accordion] after the disbanding of his previous project, Holy Ghost Fathers. The lineup was completed by Donnchadh Hoey [Guitar, Mandolin & Backing Vocals], Enda Bates [Bass Guitar, Accordion, Banjo, Glysander, Backing Vocals & Programming] and Brian O'Higgins [Drums]. This trio brought with it years of experience in bands such as Steerage, Fairlights and Groom.

The band takes its name from a poem about a haunted canal lock. Its sound is a mixture of folk, rock and psychedelica. The band has always been ready to experiment with new and different styles to enhance its sound.

In April 2011, Ronan Hayes joined the band on Bass Guitar. With Ronan's arrival, Enda moved to guitar and electronics duties.

Since its formation, the band has released two albums - 'The Spook Of The Thirteenth Lock' [2008] and 'The Brutal Here And Now' [2012].
