CORK | 200x - 200x |
OVERVIEW Sonic Icons was a Cork-based band that was active during the mid-2000s. The details on this band are sketchy but let me share what I know. The group featured a line up of Aine O'Keeffe [Vocals & Percussion], Niall O'Keeffe [Guitar, Keyboards, Programming & Backing Vocals], Kevin O'Callaghan [Bass Guitar], Adrian Quirke [Lead Guitar, Acoustic Guitar & Backing Vocals] and Trevor Kiely [Drums & Percussion]. Aine, Niall, Adrian and Trevor had previously been part of Temple Door. Aine and Niall had also been backing vocalists with The Bulbs. Trevor had previously drummed with Colourtide. The band releassed its debut single, 'Not Even You / In My Defence' in May 2005. The single was well received and reached Number 27 in the Irish charts. The band released a second single, 'Roll On The Weekend' in September of the same year. That same month saw the band release its debut album, also called 'Roll On The Weekend'. Little more is known about the group. Trevor went on to drum with Jodavino. Aine and Niall ensured their legacy in the form of their children. Their daughters Sophie and Laura have become stars in their own right as part of their band Kudos. 2005 - Release of debut single 'Not Even You' [May] - Release of 'Roll On The Weekend' single [03 September] - Release of 'Roll On The Weekend' album [16 September] |
