FROM 2000 -
Skylight are a 5-piece Dublin based alternative rock band. “Always interesting” is the unofficial band motto, whether in song structure, lyrics, or by using as wide a sonic palette as they can get their hands on - including violin, flute, vocal samples, and even the occasional guitar. Skylight are a band not easily pigeon-holed, and not easily forgotten.
Some of Skylight’s notable achievements over the past few years have included:
- The success of their single “Lowtide” in 2002. On Phantom FM it made the 'A' list for two weeks and charted in both the Phantom request chart and the Irish band chart), and it also got generous airplay from Dave Fanning on his nationwide 2FM show.
- Gigs all around Dublin and beyond, including gigs with bands such as Melaton, The Chalets and blo.tooth (now Juno Falls).
- Set up their own studio, 'Garden's-End Studio', and recorded the follow-up single, "Our Little Hourglass" in 2003.
They have just finished recording their first nationwide single release, the double a-side, “Death and Taxes/…for silence.” Skylight will be releasing this in September, and will support it with a nationwide tour.
