Skindive's unique intimate and trippy approach to music will guarantee the band huge success. Skindive are "the next big Irish band" and already a phenomenal local following guarantees them a full house at the PoD on Thursday. The Dublin-based outfit is the brainchild of Gerry Owens, a music composer, songwriter and guitarist. Having spent three years in London playing in a series of bands, Gerry returned to Dublin and set about forming a vehicle for his original songs.

Bassist Alan Lee and drummer Ger farrell were signed on during the first four months of recruiting, but finding the voice proved tougher. One rejected aspirant actually recommended a friend in LA called Danielle Harrison and the jigsaw was complete.

When Chris Blackwell, the founder of Island Records and Palm Pictures, heard skindive's demos he flew to Dublin to check then out - and two songs in to a gig he decided they belonged to Palm. Skindive's debut single 'tranquillizer' also hits the shops next Friday and one smitten critic claims it has "all the things that music and sex have in common, it's intimate, it's hard, it's brutal, it's tantalising, it's trippy and it's good every time you do it."
