Skindive are about to explode on a radio
near you as the Dublin-based band launches
its debut single tonight. The quartet has
been hailed as the Irish act most likely
to succeed in 2001 and the band's debut single,
'tranquillizer', has won rave reviews. Skindive
which is fronted by songwriter Gerry Owens
and singer Danielle Harrison, release their
self-titled debut album in Ireland and the
US later next month. They play live in Dublin's PoD tonight and travel to Waterford tomorrow night to play at the Forum. Gerry Owens has been working on the skindive project for four years, first writing the songs and then recruiting the band to bring life to the music. Bassist Alan Lee and drummer Ger Farrell were recruited in short order, but the search for a vocalist proved to be harder - until one unsuccessful try-out suggested that Gerry contact a friend of hers in LA. One week later Danielle Harrison was auditioning. Danielle and the lads say they are "very energised" for tonight's gig at the PoD but are trying to ignore the mounting hype around their band. "It's great that people are saying good things about us but we have to say focused on what we are doing." says says Danielle. Check out what all the fuss is about at the PoD tonight |
