| OVERVIEW Saint John The Gambler is the musical alter-ego of Mark Baker. While the band has included a seemingly endless list of collaborators (too many to mention here), Mark has been the only ever-present since the band's inception in 2006. The group plays a unique mix of Alt, Folk and Indie. The band's debut performance came in Seoul, South Korea where Mark had based himself for a period. SJTG released a self-titled debut EP in March 2007. The band's debut ling player followed in December 2008. That record was entitled 'Trains For The Sea'. In the wake of the release of the album, Baker relocated to Montreal [Canada]. While there, the band's sound underwent a makeover taking on a more alternative sound. In more recent times, Mark returned to Ireland. One of the highlights since his return hasa been the band's performance at the 2011 Electric Picnic festival. In October of that year, the band gave a blistering live performance at The Chocolate Factory. Two tracks were taken from this performance and released as the 'Live @ The Button Factory' EP which followed in February 2012. The band is currently working on material for its second album. 2006 - Band formed [May] 2007 - Release of 'Saint John The Gambler' EP [March] 2008 - Release of 'Trains For The Sea' album [December] 2011 - Band plays the 'Electric Picnic' festival 2012 - Release of 'Live At The Button Factory' EP [12 February] |
