In 1997, Dublin band Sack created a few ripples
with the release of their superb album, Butterfly
Effect, earning themselves a Best Album nomination
at the 1998 Heineken Hot Press Rock Awards
in Belfast. For the past few year's, Sack's
light has been hidden beneath a bushel, but
the critical acclaim for Butterfly Effect
has helped the band get some notice at the
1998 CMJ convention in New York, where they
impressed a number of major US labels with
their explosive live performances at the
hip venue, Arlene's Grocery. From their early
singles, Dilettante and What Did The Christians
Ever Do For Us, Sack's canny songwriting
has shone out of leftfield, and their current
single, Laughter Lines, is nestling in the
Irish charts as part of a charity CD in aid
of cancer research. In the new year, Sack
are sloping off to Cannes for the MIDEM Festival,
where they are no doubt hoping to bag themselves
a much-deserved deal. |
