GALWAY | 2005 - |
OVERVIEW Laura Sheeran is a Galway-born, Dublin-based artist. Her musical style is difficult to categorise, however, the terms avant garde and experimental have become synonymous with her work. Her musical ability was obvious from an early age, she self-learned most of her instruments. She was also very interested in the visual arts and this was believed to be a more likely path for her to pursue. However, Laura came into contact with Clodagh Simonds [Formerly of Mellow Candle] who was, at the time, working as part of the Fovea Hex project. The fifteen year old would end up providing vocals to the groups EP Trilogy, 'Neither Speak Nor Remain Silent'. Her time with Fovea Hex was to have a big influence on her as she learned about recording techniques as well as new approaches to singing and song-writing. Laura continued to work on her own body of work. In 2008, she embarked on an overseas tour as a solo artist. Her debut solo output came in 2010 with the release of 'Music For The Deep Woods' EP in April. Laura has used the digital medium effectively to promote her music and she released a number of internet-EPs including 'To The Depths', 'The Sadness Of The Sea - Remixes' and 'Live Studio Recordings - November 2010'. Her debut long player, 'Lust Of Pig & The Fresh Blood' followed in April 2011. In August of the same year, Laura released 'A Wake' as a split single with Katie Kim. 2010 - Release of 'Music For The Deep Woods' EP [23 April] - Release of 'To The Depths' EP [23 August] - Release of 'Sadness Of The Sea - Remixes' EP [16 September] - Release of 'Live Studio Recordings - November 2010' EP [13 December] 2011 - Release of 'Lust Of Pig & The Fresh Blood' album [01 April] - Release of 'A Wake' single as a split release with Katie Kim [14 Augsut]. |
