OVERVIEW Carly Smithson was born Carly Hennessy in Dublin in 1983. As Hennessy, she was signed to MCA records and was seen as an excellent prospect. She released two singles, 'Let Me Blow Your Mind' and 'Beautiful You' and and album 'Ultimate High'. However, these releases failed to make the commercial grade. Hennessy was dropped from the label. After this setback, she tooka break from music. It was also during this period that Carly met her husband, Todd Smithson, a tattoo artist from San Diego. Having taken her husband's name, Carly returned to the scene in 2008. She entered the seventh series of American Idol and eventually finished 6th overall. After the competition, she had planned to released some solo material, however, she instead was recruited to join We Are The Fallen. The band featured a number of former members of Evanescence. The band released it's debut album, 'Tear The World Down' on 11 May 2010. 2008 - Carly Smithson enters the seventh series of American Idol, eventually finishing sixth overall. 2009 - Smith joins We Are The Fallen featuring former members of Evanescence |
