CORK | 1988 - 2005 |
OVERVIEW Rubyhorse was a rock band from Cork. The group members had known each other since childhood. However, it wasn't until 1988 that they formed the group. The lineup of that outfit was David Farrell [Vocals, Percussion & Piano], Owen Fegan [Keyboards & Programming], Joseph Philpott [Guitar, Bass Guitar & Mute Trumpett], Declan Lucey [Bass Guitar, Guitar, Keyboards, Programming & Vocals] and Gorden Ashe [Drums, Percussion & Banjo]. The band relocated to Boston in 1997 and built up a loyal following. The band's debut recorded output came in 1995 in the form of 'A Lifetime In One Day'. The band would go on to release three further long players - 'How Far Have You Come?' [2000], 'Rise' [2002] and 'Goodbye To All That' [2003]. The band achieved moderate success in the US with the single 'Sparkle' reaching #21 in Billboard Charts. A number of their songs appeared in TV shows such as 'Smallville' and 'Rescue Me'. In 2004, Owen Fegan left the group and this was the beginning of the end for the group. Rubyhorse would go on to record and release its final album, 'Goodbye To All That'. However, by the end of 2005, the band had run its course. In 2009, Declan Lucey and Gordon Ashe reappeared as Leftbank and went on to release an album of material in 2011. 1988 - Band formed 1995 - Release of 'A Lifetime In One Day' album [02 June] 1997 - Band relocated to Boston 1998 - Release of 'Mini Hummer' EP [07 July] 2000 - Release of 'How Far Have You Come?' album [14 November] 2002 - Release of 'Rise' album [22 May] - Release of 'Sparkle' single [08 August] 2003 - Release of 'Any Day Now' single [06 June] - Release of 'Goodbye To All That' album [02 December 2003] 2004 - Owen Fegan leaves the band |
