CORK | LONDON 2002 -
OVERVIEW
Queen Kong was an inustrial electro synth band from Cork. Details of this group are sketchy at best. As a result, what I can write is equally limited. The band's line up evolved considerably over the course of its lifetime. The core of the band came in the form of Amy Stephenson [Vocals], David Murphy [Bass Guitar] and Ruby Moore [Guitar]. There were certainly other players in the early days, including a drummer called James. Over the years, Queen Kong's number also included Ewa Gigon on saxophone and Leanne Harte on guitar.

The band's first known recorded output came in 2004 when they contributed the track 'She's A Bleeder' to the 'Cork Is An Anagram Of Rock' compilation. The following year saw the band release its debut EP, 'The Leech'. In 2006, Queen Kong appeared on another compilation of Cork artists. Their track, 'Photograph' was included on the 'Southern Fried 2' compilation. Early 2008, saw the band release a limited 7" picture disc. The lead trafck was 'So Brand New' which had previously appeared on 'The Leech' EP. The B-Side was 'Bourgeois'. For their next release they teamed up with You're Only Massive. Together, they recorded the album 'Dot-Dash' which was released in August 2008.

It's not clear what happened to the group after this period. What is certain is that David went on to join You're Only Massive.
