OVERVIEW

Purple Haze [2] was a Dublin-based rock band which was active during the mid-1990s. The group featured a line up of Jonathan Black [Guitar], Andrew Brennan [Guitar & Vocals], Declan Garvey [Bass Guitar & Backing Vocals] and Anthony Mooney [Drums]. There is little known about the group, however, they specialised in playing cover versions os bands such as Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and Jimi Hendrix.

The band later invited Luke Slott to join. This brought about a shift in the bands approach. The covers were shelved in favour or original material. The band decided on a further change and became Melaton. Under the new name, the band would go on to release a series of acclaimed EPs in the early 2000s.

When Melaton split in 2004, Andrew went on to join Bravest Kid In School. In 2011, Andrew and Jonathan reunited as part of Dogs and electro-guitar band. The band later morphed into Pursued By Dogs albeit without Jonathan.
