ATHY, CO. KILDARE 2015 -
OVERVIEW
Picture This are a musical phenomenen. Since the band formed in October 2015, Picture This have had a meteoric rise to stardom. Listen to this for a CV - their debut gig sold out and had to be moved to a larger venue - which also sold out, their debut EP went to #1 in the Irish Charts, the lead track from that EP, Take My Hand won the Choice Music Prize for song of the year, the band's self-titled debut album topped the Irish charts, the band announce 5 concerts at the O2 Arena - they all sell out, the band's song 'One Drink' is nominated for the Choice Music Prize, the band's second album,'MDRN LV' debuts at #1 in the Irish charts. Take a deep breath - it's been a whirlwind few years for the Kildare natives.

Now for the boring stuff. The band was formed in 2015 by Ryan Hennessy [Vocals & Guitar] and Jimmy Rainsford [Drums]. The story goes that Ryan recorded a version of 'Take My Hand' on his phone. After sharing it with Rainsford, the pair were convinced that the track should be recorded and thus Picture This was formed. The song went viral on social media which resulted in the band having to move their debut gig from The Grand Social to accommodate the crowd. The Academy gig also sold out. The next time the band played Dublin, they had to book The Olympia Theatre - that sold out too! The band's self-titled debut was released in August 2016. The EP is filled with tracks which have by now become firm fans favourites. The lead track on the EP, 'Take My Hand' went on to win the Choice Music Prize for song of the year. In 2017, the band unleashed their debut long player. Another self titled affair, the record featured 3 tracks from the EP ('Take My Hand', 'Let's Be Young' and 'You & I') as well as 10 new songs. Notable amongst the new tracks is 'Addicted To You'.

Much of 2018 was spent writing and recording new material. Always a powerful live act, the band continued to perform including a headline show at the RDS in June and gigs in the US at year end. In October of that year, the band made a remarkable announcement - they were to play 5 gigs in the O2 Arena in March 2019. The gigs all sold out as did their gigs in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow.

The band dropped its second album, 'MDRN LV' in February 2019. Not surprisingly, the album debuted at #1.

2019 promises to be a another special year for the band.
