| DUBLIN | 1980 - 1980 |
| OVERVIEW This was more of a once off recording project rather than real group. In 1980, Paddy Glackin and Jolyon Jackson got together to record an album. Both were established musicians in their own right. Fiddler Paddy had come up through traditional music scene. He had been part of the acclaimed Bothy Band before branchimg out on his own in about 1975. Jolyon, a multi-instrumentalist, born in Malaya to an Irish father had been part of the Irish prog rock scene. He had played with the likes of Jazz Therapy and Supply Demand & Curve. The pair got together in 1979/80 to record an album. The album unique for the time as it merged the traditional sound of Paddy's fiddle with the modern of Jolyon's keyboard playing. The result was 'Hidden Ground' which was released in 1980 on Tara Records. The record is still considered to be a seminal cross-over album - ahead of its time. The collaboration was was a once off partnership. Paddy went back to operating as a solo artist with periodical releases. Joly went on to join Roger Doyle's Operating Theatre in the early 1980s. Sadly, he was diasnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease and dies in London in 1985. 1980 - Release of 'Hidden Ground' album |
