| OVERVIEW The Original Rude Boys is a hip hop band from Dublin's North Inner City. The band members had all been involved in various aspects of the music scene before coming together as a band in 2011. Rapper Sean Arkins had been involved with the local hip hop scene. Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Rob Burch had been performing on the pub circuit while Sean Walsh was an accomplished ukelele player. The band used YouTube as a vehicle to promote themselves. Very early in their career, the band recorded a session and published it on the website. The videos gain a lot of attention in Ireland and this gave rise to TV appearances. This also lead to invitations to appear a concerts in Ireland and the UK including the Oxegen Leeds and Reading Festivals. It was at the Reading Festival that the band met producer Jake Gosling, who is known for his work with Ed Sheeran the they agreed to work together. They hooked up with Jake in his studio and recorded the ssingle 'Stars In My Eyes' as well as the material for the future 'Travelling Man' EP. The band released its debut single, 'Stars In My Eyes' in October 2011. The single was very well received and reached No. 3 in the Irish charts. After this release, the band returned to the UK to complete the recording of the debut album, again with Jake Gosling. Priot to the release of the album, the band released the 'Travelling Man' EP in early March 2012. This also charted very strongly, reaching No. 2 in Ireland. On 23rd March, the band released its debut long player, 'This Life'.
