OVERVIEW
No Sweat was a hard rock-pop band which was active during the latter part of the 1980s and early years of the next decade. The group is another one in the line of 'almost made it' bands. No Sweat was formed in 1996 which the band originally trading as Stateside. The lineup changed frequently over the course of the band's existence, however, the definitive lineup is the one that was in place at the time of the release of the eponymously-titled debut album in 1990. The personnel for this record included Paul Quinn [Vocals], PJ Smith [Keyboards & Vocals], Jim Philips [Guitar & Vocals], Jon E. Angel [Bass Guitar], Dave Gooding [Guitar & Vocals] and Ray Fean [Drums]

No Sweat was championed by Joe Elliott of Def Leppard fame who actually went on to produce the band's first release. That single was entitled 'Heart And Soul' and reached the top of the Irish singles charts upon its release in 1989. The band released two further Irish singles in the form of 'Tear Down The Walls' and 'On The Edge' in 1990. Both of these also charted well reaching Number 4 and Number 11 respectively. The band recorded its debut album with Keith Olsen. This was another eponymous affair which included the three singles as well as tracks such as 'Shake' and 'Waters Flow'.

The band launched an assault on the UK where they re-released 'Heart And Soul' and 'Tear Down The Walls'. The tracks were moderately successful reaching Number 64 and 61 respectively.

However, shortly after this the group split. Dave Gooding went on to front English band B.L.O.W. Paul J. Smith went on to play with Clock, a band which included Vivian Campbell of Def Leppard and Mark Schulman from Foreigner. Smith later went on to launch a solo career.
