DERRY | DUBLIN | GALWAY 2006 - 2008
OVERVIEW
Nábac was a Galway-based folk and world music band. The group of four Dubliners and one Derry man came together in Galway in 2006. The aforementioned players were Liz Coleman [Fiddle & Mandolin], Noriana Kennedy [Vocals & Whistles], Ciaran O'Donghaile [Flute, Pipes & Whistles], James Ryan [Guitar, Mandola & Banjo] and Paddy Kennedy [Bodhran, Flute & Cajon]. Liz had previously played with Spinning Jennys.

The band released its debut album 'Siar Anoir' in 2007. The album, whose title translates to 'West Of East' contains an eclectic mix of music including Irish, Danish, Swedish and Hungarian songs. Also featured is 'Ang Tangi Kong Pagibig', a Filipino ballad in honour of Noriana and Paddy's heritage. The record was produced by Seamie O'Dowd from Dervish.

The band seemed to come to an end sometime after the record release. Noriana, Paddy & Liz went on to perform with Mad Uncle Harry. Noriana also released a solo record before forming The Whileaways.
