DUBLIN DATES
OVERVIEW
Pick a topic.any topic and Scott Maher has probably written a song about it. He has penned over 300 songs in the last three years. Among his more notable notches he has sang for the Queen of England in London last year, He brought the house down in The National Concert Hall when Sir George Martin (Beatles Producer) brought his 70-piece orchestra to town, He has had two previous top thirty hits with previous band “Beach”, which took Best Unsigned act in the Emergenza festival out of 800 bands spread across Europe and has assumed the role of “John” in The Classic Beatles. He doesn’t drink He doesn’t smoke and most things with Scott can be settled on the snooker table! The last two years have seen him co-write three tracks on Bridgin Brennan’s (Enya’s sister) album “Eyes of Innocence”and co-write a complete album for “Jani”, an up and coming Irish R +B star in the making, but most satisfying was the completion of his own debut album “Cartoon Moon”, which he says “was in me for too long”. Well it’s firmly out now and and the initial reaction from fans and peers alike is one of loud approval. Hotpress writes – “A True Original – A Fantastic debut album” – You’ll adore Cartoon Moon for Maher’s attractively aching voice”. In Dublin say “Sublime Voice”, Even the American legend Judy Collins says of Scott. “I feel something special, unique and very different about you – This is beautiful music – Amazing arrangements and you sing like an angel”.

When asked about his influences Scott says “ I used to be quite closed musically without even knowing it but when I started to explore other styles and genres from Heavy Rock to Classical piano to R and B, Arabian Trance – the point being that I discovered why I love music so much ………and then I began to write. That’s why I always listen to every kind of song twice. …Even if I hate it first time. Scott has played with ex-members of “Wings” and has chalked up some respected guest spots with Jules Holland, Texas, World Party among many others. So what for the future? Well.Scott has just recorded a version of the infamous Thin Lizzy song “Still in Love with you” to be included on a compilation to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Phil Lynnot’s passing. Other names will include Damien Rice, Declan O’Rourke, Damien Dempsey, Mundy and a host of other unusual suspects with rumours of Mettalica getting involved. “I’m really pleased to be asked – I mean what Irish musician isn’t a fan of Phil Lynnot and all he has done for Irish music?” A pending visit to SXSW festival in Texas in March could prove to be fruitful as Scott will be releasing “Cartoon Moon” in America (where has recently signed a TV/Film deal and placed two songs ( “Air” and “Roundstone”) in the movie “Lost on the B-side” The songs will also be on the soundtrack of the movie being released in Feb ’06.. Scott has the admiration and accolades of someone who has released many recordings but this being his debut album I think we will be seeing a lot more of Scott Maher.
