OVERVIEW
The Mountain Climbers was a Dublin-based band which was active during the 1987/88 period. The group was formed by Tom O'Brien [Vocals & Guitar], Tom Courtney [Lead Guitar], Brian Foley [Bass Guitar] and Robie Kelly [Drums]. Padraig McCaul [Saxophone] and Dave Sweeney [Guitar]. Brian Foley had played with The Vipers and The Blades. Dave Sweeney was also known as George Sweeney and had previously performed with Rocky De Valera And The Gravediggers, The Vipers and Red Square before joining The Mountain Climbers.

The band released on single. 'Grace' on Solid Records in 1987. This was a once off release. Unfortunately, this did not yield a full record deal. The band split in 1988.

Padraig and Brian played with The Harvest Ministers for a period. Dave (George) Sweeney went on to play with an early version of The Fat Lady Sings. He later went on to work in journalism. Tom O'Brien became a playwright writing pieces such as 'Happy Loving Couples' and 'Love In The Air'.
