DUBLIN 1997 - 2005
OVERVIEW
Mixtwitch was a ska-punk band from Dublin. The group was active from 1997 to 2005. Formed in February 1997, the band's line up featured David Carroll [Vocals], Carl Duffy [Guitar], David Clements [Guitar], Ronan Foley [Bass Guitar] and Dave Kearney [Drums]. The band recorded its first demo in July of that year. The 5-track recording included 'Hoi Polloi', 'Mary', 'Prescilla', 'I Made This' and 'The Cure'.

The band's first EP arrived two years later in the form of '5 Songs And a Prick'. The lead track on the EP was 'Muddled' with the collection also featuring 'Hoi Polloi' from the earlier demo. In September of 1999, Mixtwitch released the 'Successful Everyday Living' EP. The title track went on to be one of the band's favourites. A year leader heralded the arrival of the band's debut long player, 'Funny Because It's True' which was well received in Irish indie circles. Over the following year, the Mixtwitch brought its sound to an international audience playing extensively across Europe. They also played dates on America's east coast. That year also saw the band sign a deal with Moon Ska Records.

The first output from the band on this imprint was the second album, 'Smile For The Money Shot' which arrived in September 2002. 2004 was a busy year for the group with appearances at the SXSW and Hard Working Class Heroes festivals. In August, the band released what was to be its last EP, 'All Bets Are Off'. In May of the 2005, Mixtwitch announced that the band had come to an end.
