"The Marbles Story" Be Sonic
n/a 2003
The Marbles are set to unleash their second single,”Fallin’ Overground” and it’s a slice of pure rock pop heaven about the trials and tribulations of modern life. It’s the sort of dangerously infectious song that makes you feel so damn good it should probably be illegal – so it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to work out why The Marbles have been creating such a buzz since they emerged earlier this year with their first single,” Slip into Sound”. The track received serious airplay on various radio 1 shows and was play listed on Virgin and XFM amongst others.

Since signing to ZTT, the band have been gigging and working on their first album. During this period, they decided they needed a new front man and recruited Glaswegian Marco Rea to join as lead singer/rhythm guitarist and the rest is history. Like all great front-men, Marco comes alive in front of the microphone and possesses enough charisma to make most singers run away crying into their beer. He also looks like butter wouldn’t melt, but once he’s started singing you won’t be fooled again!

Unlike most bands around at the moment, The Marbles did much of their growing up in private and have consequently arrived in the spotlight perfectly formed and firing on all cylinders. Bursting with fire and energy, The Marbles make the sort of gritty gloriously life-affirming noise that’s Beaty, Big and Bouncy game of musical Twister between The Faces, Foo Fighters, Supergrass and early Who, they make you think of many classic bands, but ultimately they sound like nobody except The Marbles.

Here’s what the press have been saying:-

“Like Kula Shaker covering the The Who – loose, lithe and rocky.” [Melody Maker]

“Irelands latest attempt at world domination erupts with hot-diggedy-dog of nonsensical simplicity. If there’s more where this came from then guitar pop has a new soundtrack for lazy summer’s days. Tingly! [Single of the week – The Mirror]

“The Marbles run through raucous glam pop and shimmering psychedelic rock with gusto and brio…A pop band with an instinctive grasp of catchy melody.” [Sunday Times]

“Jingly-jangly guitar tunes from the sexiest scruffs since Supergrass.” [More Magazine]

“The Marbles might just have the glam pop sensibility and careful tunes to make it all the way to the top.” [What’s On In London]
