OVERVIEW The Malfunctions was rock-pop band from Donegal. The group formed after previous outfit The Wild Herrings disbanded in 1987. The lineup featured Fiona Pender [Vocals], John Kane [Guitar], Patsy O'Kane [Bass Guitar] and Michael Christie [Drums]. All four had previously played with The Wild Herrings. In addition, David Meade [Guitar] and Stephen Gallagher [Bass Guitar] are known to have played with the band for period and are credited on their recordings. The band released one single during its lifetime. That came in the shape of 'Say Goodbye' which was issued in 1988 on Danceline Records. The track peaked at number 27 on the Irish singles chart. The following year, the band contributed two tracks - 'Eastenders' and 'Don't Kick Me Now' to the 'Nationwide' compilation which was also on Danceline Records. Later that year, The Manfunctions disbanded. However, John, Patsy, Michael and Stephen all went on to perform with Georgia. More recently, Michael has assumed drumming duties for The Boxtie Band.
