OVERVIEW Machismo is a Cork-based band that was formed in September 2006. The line up includes Shane McCarthy [Vocals & Guitar], Aurin O'Brien [Bass Guitar & Vocals], Ian McCarthy [Drums, Percussion & Vocals] and Liam Brennan [Guitar]. The band sound found their unique sound of powerful and often sweeping guitars overlaid with strong vocals. These attributes helped the quartet to win the Cork Institute Of Technology 'Battle Of The Bands' competition in 2008 and reach the final of the UCC version of the event. Later that year, the band started work on its debut EP. The collection, entitled 'The Swell' EP was release in January of 2009 and included tracks such as 'Don't Free Your Ego', 'Mainstreet Racers' as well as the title track. 'Don't Free Your Ego' went on to reach number 4 in the Irish Download Charts.
