OVERVIEW
Gary Moore is one of the best known musicians to ever emerge from Ireland having played with Skid Row, Thin Lizzy as well as releasing an extensive body of hard rock and blues-influenced solo material. Born Robert William Gary Moore in Belfast in 1952, he started playing guitar at the age of 8. Moore was influenced by Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix and he was developing his own blues-influenced style of playing.

In 1969, he joined Skid Row with Brush Shiels and Noel Bridgeman. It was also with Skid Row that Moore met and befriended Phil Lynott with whom he worked with over the following fifteen years. He recorded 3 albums with the band before embarking on his solo career in 1971. In spite of going solo, Moore went on to play with Colesseum II and Thin Lizzy on a number of different occasions. However, he still managed to find time to release two solo albums during the decade - 'Grinding Stone' [1973] and 'Back On The Streets' [1979].

The 1980s were one of Moore's most productive eras with numerous albums released.

By the start of the 90s, Moore had decided on a change of musical direction as he re-embraced Blues music.

Gary Moore died on 06 February 2011 while holidaying in Spain.
