MOUNT OVAL, CO CORK | TBC - |
OVERVIEW Lyra is a singer-songwriter from Cork. She's been immersed in music from an early age - picking up the bodhrán. Her voice is unique and draws comparison to the likes of Florence Welch [Florence & The Machine]. She has become known for singing in her distinctly Irish brogue. She emerged in 2016 with the release of her debut single, 'Emerald' in May. The track served as a taster for her debut EP. 'W.I.L.D.' which followed in July. The other tracks on the EP were 'Rabbit In The Headlights', 'Broken Down' and 'Whitelady'. However, 'Emerald' is really the track which really caught the public's imagination. It was featured on the soundtrack of the RTE TV series 'Striking Out' in January 2017. It was used in the Guinness GAA advert. In October of that year, an album commemorating the seminal U2 album, 'The Joshua Tree' was released. Lyra recorded a version of 'Mothers Of The Disappeared' for the compilation. In 2018, Lyra provided vocals to the track 'Yesterday' by In:most. In February 2019, she returned with a new track of her own called 'Falling'. 2016 - Release of 'Emerald' single [18 May] - Release of 'W.I.L.D.'
