CORK | DUBLIN 1981 - 1981 | 2007 -
OVERVIEW
Loko Parentis is a Dublin-based punk-rock band. The band traces its origins back to Cork in the early 1980s. At this time, the first version of Loko Parentis was formed as a once off project by members of bands such as Beserk, Constant Reminders and Factor Fiction. That line up featured Mike O'Brien [Vocals], Giordai O'Laoghaire [Guitar], Ricky Dineen [Guitar], Paul O'Mahony [Bass Guitar] and Keith O'Connell [Drums]. The band recorded one demo which featured the track 'How Are You, Human?' but no official releases followed.

Ricky and Keith went on to form Five Go Down To The Sea. Giordai would play with Micro-Disney, Soon and Nine Wassies From Bainne. Paul, for his part, would perform for a brief period with Totally Unpredictable.

In the mid-2000s Paul decided to get a band together again and hooked up with Alan Markey, whose previous group, The Gurriers, had recently split. The pair recruited Tom McDonald [Guitar] from Las Vegas Basement and drummer Jareth Tait who had played with The Cherries. The final piece of the Loko Parentis picture came with the addition of Tommy O'Sullivan on vocals. Tommy had previously played with The Blood Red Dolls and Estel.

The band has released two well received albums to date. First came 'The Other Side Of Fear' in 2009 with a the second album 'Dream Revolution' following a year later.
