OVERVIEW Les Enfants was a po-rock band from Dublin active during the early and mid 1980s. The group was formed in about 1982 by Ronan O'Hanlon [Guitar] and John MacEvilly [Drums]. Front man, Derek Herbert joined at the end of 1982. He had preiously performed with Shattered Light and Luminants. Mick Cosgrave [Keyboards] and Derek Ryan [Bass Guitar] completed the lineup. Flo McSweeney [ex Toy With Rhythm] and Suzanne Rhatigan [also ex Toy With Rhythm and Fifth Avenue] provided vocals at different times during the band's career. The band released a debut single 'Take The Girl' in1984. Shortly after this, the band relocated to London. 1985 was a busy year for the band with two further single releases - 'Slipaway' and 'Shed A Tear (There You Go)' as well as their debut LP 'Touché'. In 1986, Les Enfants returned to Ireland to perform at the Self Aid concert. The band contributed the track 'A Sense Of Freedom' from their set to the 'Live For Ireland' compilation which released in 1987. By this time, however, the group had run its course. Derek Herbert continued to be active on the music scene and went on to form The Big Noise, Sun and The Superseeds.
