DUBLIN | AUSTRALIA 2010 -
OVERVIEW
Kool Thing is an Irish-Australian group featuring Julie Fogarty [aka Julie Chance] and Jon Dark. The pair met in Paris in 2010 and decided to start working together. Julie is from Dublin with Jon being a Sydney native. The group is now based in Berlin and has expanded to a three-piece including Valentin Plessy on drums. The band takes its name from a Sonic Youth song. That band certainly had an influence on the Kool Thing. However, there are also strong electronic influences.

To date the band has released a couple of EPs - 'Light Games' and 'Plan'Life'Go' - both in 2012. That year also saw the band hit the Irish festival scene with appearances at Forbidden Fruit and the Hard Working Class Heroes festivals.
