OVERVIEW Kool Thing is an Irish-Australian group featuring Julie Fogarty [aka Julie Chance] and Jon Dark. The pair met in Paris in 2010 and decided to start working together. Julie is from Dublin with Jon being a Sydney native. The group is now based in Berlin and has expanded to a three-piece including Valentin Plessy on drums. The band takes its name from a Sonic Youth song. That band certainly had an influence on the Kool Thing. However, there are also strong electronic influences. To date the band has released a couple of EPs - 'Light Games' and 'Plan'Life'Go' - both in 2012. That year also saw the band hit the Irish festival scene with appearances at Forbidden Fruit and the Hard Working Class Heroes festivals. 2010 - Band formed [December] 2012 - Release of 'Light Games' EP [January] - Kool Thing perform at the Forbidden Fruit Festival in Dublin [02 - 04 June] - Release of 'Plan'Life'Go' single [07 July] - Kool Thing perform as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin [04 - 06 October] 2013 - Release of 'Kool Thing' album [04 March]
