KILMUCKRIDGE, CO. WEXFORD 1998 -
OVERVIEW
Jade came together in 1998. The band was originally a four piece featuring Sheila O'Sullivan [Vocals & Lead Guitar], Elaine Weldon [Vocals & Acoustic Guitar], Yvonne O'Sullivan [Vocals & Drums] and Caroline Weldon [Vocals & Bass Guitar]. Sheila and Yvonne are sisters while Elaine and Caroline are twins. All four hail from the village of Kilmuckridge in Co. Wexford.

The band recorded a demo with this line up. Thie release featured the tracks 'Take The Time', 'Strange', ''Beautiful Thing' and 'Radio' and was produced by Robert McLeod and the band themselves.

In 2005, the band entered the 'You're A Star' competition which was to pick the act to represent Ireland at the Eurovision competition. The band finished in second place behind Donna and Joseph McCaul.

The band slimmed down to a three piece with the departure of Caroline. A slight name modification was in order and the trio became The Jades. 2006 saw the release of 'Beautiful Thing' as a download single. The band then set about recording their debut album. The recording sessions took place in Wexford, Dublin and with David Odlum in France. Entitled 'Amber Skies', the long player was released in August 2009. A number of singles have been culled from the album including 'Sooner Or Later', 'Bermuda Song' and 'Look At Me Now'.
