OVERVIEW HUNK! was a short-lived punk-infused pop band based in Dublin. The group came together with a line up of Sundara O'Higgins [Vocals & Guitar], Niamh Hegarty [Bass Guitar] and Ger Mangan [Drums]. Kerry native, Ger had previously drummed with Ten Past Seven. Sal O'Halloran from Tieranniesaur has been known to play with HUNK! from time to time. The band quickly laid down a two track demo featuring 'Laidbare' and 'I Want To Be Brave'. Later that year, the band released its debut single, 'Dupe' through Soft Power Records. In May 2013, the band was invitedto play at the Camden Crawl 13 Festival. The band returned to the studio to work on new material. These sessions resulted in enough material for an EP and so the 'Fledgling' EP was born. Ror Conaty [Veroa and No Spill Blood] sat behind the drumkit for the EP. After this replease the group became inactive. Sundara focused on her other group, Cave Ghosts. Niamh did some work with Vann Music before launching her solo project, Binaries. 2012 - Release of 'Dupe' single [17 December] 2013 - HUNK! perform at Camden Crawl 13 with a gig at Sweeneys [05 May] - Release of 'Fledgling' EP [22 November] |
