Graham Hopkins' drumming on Therapy?'s albums had many fans cranking them louder than was actually good for either speakers or ears. With Halite they'll be reaching towards the volume control again - for completely different reasons. Often gentle and oh-so-quiet, Hopkins sings and plays nearly everything on the quirky 'Head On' and got it on to tape in four weeks. It's guaranteed to kickstart the nostalgia for anyone who spent too much of their money or life on wistful indie guitars and shows that Hopkins has a far brighter talent with a chorus than many of the singer-songwriters he'll invariably get lumped in with. When he tries to add grit to grace however, on the likes of 'Why Bother?' and 'Passing Tax', some of the magic is lost. Rock knows he's paid his dues to the heavier side of things; you'll know what the world needs more of after hearing this record.
