OVERVIEW Gorbachov was a five-piece band based in Waterford. The band played their first gig under the name The Cheeky Halves, then morphed into Johnny Pits & The Waterfalls before finally settling on the Gorbachov monikor. With the name in place, the band started to gig and release their first recorded output. In 2004, the band released 'Do It Again' and 'Flame On'. They followed this with the 'Revenge Of The Sauce' EP in 2005. The following year, Gorbachov teamed up with fellow Waterford crew, Ilya K to release a split 7" single. Gorbachov contributed 'Beat Machine' while Ilya K included 'Glass Eyes'. In 2007, the band released what is believed to be their final single, 'Mr Fahrenheit / People Skills'. In 2008, Gorbachov entered the Murphy's Live competition along with about 450 other hopeful artists. Over the course of various stages, the Waterford lads went on to win the title of best live act in the country with an electric performance at the Savoy in Cork. Later that year, they went on to perform at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin.
