GLEN OF THE DOWNS, CO. WICKLOW 2002 -
OVERVIEW
God Is An Astronaut is a pioneering post-rock band from Co. Wicklow. The group is centred around brothers Torsten and Niels Kinsella. The pair have played together previously in bands such as Oblivion Junior and Super A.D. After these experiments, they formed God Is An Astronaut in 2002. The current line up also includes Lloyd Hanney [Drums & Loops] and Jamie Dean [Keyboards, Guitar and Vocals]

Since it's inception, the band has released a series of acclaimed albums - 'The End Of The Beginning' [2002], 'All Is Violent, All Is Bright' [2005], 'Far From Refuge' [2007], 'God Is An Astronaut' [2008], 'Age Of The Fifth Sun' [2010], 'Origins' [2013] and 'Helios | Erebus' [2015]. Most of the releases have been issued on the band's own Revive Records imprint. The exception to this was the 'Origins' record which was issued on Rocket Girl Records.

Over the course of these releases, the band has built up a strong and loyal following in Ireland and abroad. God Is An Astronaut is known for its excellent live show which sees the band's instrumental tracks enhanced by the projection of unique and individual videos.

In 2005, the band collaborated with former Whipping Boy front-man, Fearghal McKee on the 'What You Wanna Start?' single.
