BELFAST 198x - 199x
OVERVIEW
Ghost Of An American Airman was an alternative rock band from Belfat. The group was formed in the mid-1980s and was active for the best part of a decade. While critically acclaimed, Ghost Of An American Airman failed to make a commercial breakthrough. The band featured Dodge McKay [Vocals & Guitar], Alan Galbraith [Bass Guitar], Matt Matthews [Drums] and Ben Trowell [Guitar & Vocals]. Mark Bingham may have played guitar on some early recordings prior to Ben joining the lineup.

GOAAA made its recorded debut in 1987 with the release of the 'I Hear Voices' single. The band's debut album, 'Someday' followed in 1988 on Plain Paper Records. While the record was well received, it did not have the support of a major label. The major label debut followed in 1992 with the release of 'Life Under Giants' album. Once again, critical acclaim did not translate into commercial success. The band's final album, 'Skin' was released in 1993.

The band split some time after this with McKay going on to perform as part of The Sunday Club and, subsequently, Thompson.
