DUBLIN | LIMERICK | 2008 - |
OVERVIEW The Funeral Suits is an indie-rock band based in Dublin. The band was originally just Michael McKeogh working on his own. However, within a year he had recruited Brian James [Vocals, Guitar & Synth] and Greg McCarthy [Drums]. The band wasted no time in making its recorded debut. This came in the shape of the 'Oh Dear' EP. The lead track 'Black Lemonade' was backed by 'Screentest', 'Downboy' and 'Modern Urban Pleasure'. The band also started working on its debut album during this period, however, this took longer than expected to materialise. Instead, 2009 saw further single releases from the band. The first of these was the 'Eye Spy' EP which was released in June of that year. A further single, 'Now We're Moving Now We're Free' followed in August of the same year. The band then started working on album in earnest. The band contacted Stephen Street to see if he would be prepared to work with the band. Street has previously produced records for the likes of The Smiths, Blur and The Cranberries. Surprising, Stephen agreed to produce the record. With the record done, the band released a new single in May 2011. The single 'Colour Fade' was a first taster from the forthcoming debut album. By the time of this release, the group's number had swelled to four with the addition of Dar Grant. 2008 - Band formed - Release of 'Oh Dear' EP [19 July] 2009 - Release of 'Eye Spy' EP [05 June] - Release of 'Now We're Moving Now We're Free' single [08 August] - The Funeral Suits perform as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin [16 - 18 October] 2011 - Release of 'Colour Fade' single [29 May] - Funeral Suits perform as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin [6 - 8 October] - Release of 'Health' single [25 September] 2012 - Release of 'All Those Friendly People' single [01 April] - Release of 'Lily Of The Valley' album [01 June] - Release of 'Colour Fade' EP [16 July] - Release of 'Hands Down' single [14 October] |
