DUBLIN 1992 - 2005
OVERVIEW
Female Hercules was a garage punk band which was active on the Dublin music scene throughout the 1990s and the early part of the 2000s. The group was formed in 1992 and featured a line up of Michael Connerty [Vocals & Guitar], Aengus Hennessy [Guitar], Reynald Masson [Bass Guitar] and Dave Liston [Drums]. The group released a couple of EPs on Andy Cairn's [THERAPY?] Blunt Records label. The first of these, 'Painkiller' was released in October 1994. That year also saw the band contribute the track 'Firepower' to the 'Raisins And Vomit ::: Vol 2'. The second Blunt Label EP, 'Record Player' followed in February 1995.

1996 saw the band contribute to another conpilation - 'Zip Up Your Boots For The Showbands'. The contributed 'Inside You' to what has become an iconic collection. The following year saw the band return with a new EP - 'Sweetheart'. Released on Fireball Records, the 6-track collection featured 'Sweetheart', 'One Quick Shot', 'Sexual Frustration', 'Titticut', 'Toughen Up' and 'Caveman Style'. In 2000, their live rendition of 'Dwestruction Of Dublin' appeared on the 'Live Sessions 2000' compilation.

The group's final release, 'Gwendolyn' came in 2001. The band itself came to an end in 2005. Michael went on to perform with Moutpiece.

Sadly, Reynald passed away in November 2012.
