OVERVIEW Deadman's Flats was an alternative rock band based in Dublin. The group was active during the latter part of the 1990s and featured a line up of Steve Fanagan [Vocals, Guitar & Keyboards], Daragh McGetrick [Guitar], Tim O'Donovan [Drums & Vocals], John Cowhie [Guitar & Vocals] and Declan Tuite [Bass Guitar]. The band released one album during it's career. The record was recorded over a week at the end of August / beginning September 1998 at Tower House in Waterford. The album was launched with a gig at Whelan's in Dublin in November of that year. The audience on that night featured Kevin Spacey and Linda Fiorentina amongst others. In 2000, the band contributed the track 'Thinkintwos' to the 'Mango Music ::: For Your Machine' compilation. Other songs which never made it to official release included 'This IsWhat' and 'Velvety'. Deadman's Flats played live regularly. Along with their own compositions, the group was also known to perform cover versions such as 'Bootie Call' and 'Don't You Want Me Baby'. It's not clear exactly when the band split. However, in the wake of the breakup, the group spawned several other musical projects. John and Tim went on to perform initially as part of 46 Long. John then formed Goodtime John (with whom Tim drummed for a period). The band's name was later shortened to Goodtime. After 46 Long, Tim performed with Settler before launching his own 80s-influenced disco project Neosupervital. Tim also assumed regular drumming duties for Bell X1. Steve , for his part, created a succession of musical projects including Old Man Polka, Northstation, Wrecking Ball and Moose Eats Leaf.
