RINGSEND, DUBLIN 1983 -
OVERVIEW
Paul Cleary is a musician and songwriter of some reknown who has been active on the Irish music scene since the late 1970s. Originally from Ringsend, he came to prominance as the front man of The Blades. The band was considered by many to be one of the top bands at the time as well as the group best equipped to make an international breakthrough.

In 1983, when he was still performing with The Blades, he released his debut solo single, 'Some People Smile'. When The Blades split in around 1986, Cleary went on to pursue a solo career for a short period. He released a second single, 'Dublin City Town' in 1986. Later that year, he released 'Too Late' in partnership with Ray Lynam.

Around this time, Paul formed The Partisans and spent the next number of years performing with this outfit. He is also known to have played with The Cajun Kings. After this, he went to ground and was not heard of for some time. However, he re-emerged in 2001 with a solo album, 'Crooked Town' which was released on Reekus Records. In 2003, one of the tracks from the album, 'The Ghost Of Christmas Past' was issued as a single.

Since then, it appears that Paul has, once again' slipped of the musical radar.
