KILCOOLE, CO. WICKLOW | 2008 - 2014 |
OVERVIEW Croupier was a post-rock band from Wicklow. The group was formed over the Summer of 2008 with a line up of Oisin Murphy [Vocals & Guitar], Charlie Mooney [Guitar & Vocals], Harry Burton [Keyboards, Piano & Vocals], Rob Reid [Bass Guitar] and Niall O'Kelly [Drums]. While the band come together with differing musical backgrounds [Charlie's Dad, for example is the renowned jazz musican Nigel Mooney], their influences were all bands that produced excellent music - Talk Talk, The Redneck Manifesto & Liars - to name but a few. In July 2010, the band released its debut EP. The record was an ambitious affair featuring a total of 6 tracks and ran for over 37 minutes - as long as many full length albums. Over the next two years, the band's sound improved significantly. By the time they released their self-titled debut album in August 2012, the band had matured massively.
