CHURCHTOWN, CO. DUBLIN 198x - 198x
OVERVIEW
Cretins was a Dublin-based alternative rock band which was active during the early part of the 1980s. The lineup featured Rory Stokes [Vocals & Bass Guitar], Shane O'Neill [Guitar], Eamonn Tynan [Guitar], Dave Long [Bass Guitar] and Dave Clarke [Drums]. The group is actually better known for the bands which it spawned rather than anything which it did in itself.

Rory Stokes had previously played with The Sussed before going on to perform with Cuba Dares and Rory Stokes & The Spiders From Kimmage. Shane O'Neill went on to play with Amuse before forming Blue In Heaven who later became The Blue Angels. Eamonn Tynan joined O'Neill in Blue In Heaven and The Blue Angels. Dave Long also played with Amuse and then formed Backwards Into Paradise with Rachel Tighe. After the release of a debut single, the band recruited new members and shortened its name to Into Paradise. Dave Clarke has been extremely active - first playing with Blue In Heaven and The Blue Angels. He later played with established bands The Black Velvet Band and Hothouse Flowers. More recently, Dave teamed up with Fiachna Ó'Braonáin [Hothouse Flowers] and Cait O'Riordan [The Pogues] to form PreNup.

O'Neill and Long would later team up for a once off project called Supernaut. The pair released a self-titled album in 1999.
