OVERVIEW The three players who make up The Citizens should be very familiar to any student of the Irish music scene. Ken O'Duffy [Vocals & Guitar], Tosh Flood [Guitar, Keyboards & Vocals] and Vin Duffy [Bass Guitar & Vocals] first performed together as Nijinsky [1983 - 85] who later became Saville. As Saville, they were a mainstay of the Irish musical landscape for 15 years. By 2009, Saville had pretty much run its course. Tosh and drummer Joe Fitzgerald were now playing with Pugwash. Ken moved to London and performed as The Citizen. In May 2014, Saville were asked to perform at a friend's wedding. Ken shared some of the songs he had written. It soon became apparent that there was an appetite to play together again and, thus The Citizen became The Citizens. Since getting back together, the trio have released two albums - 'Songs Of Absolution' [2015] and 'The Autumn House' [2016]. The records are jammed packed with songs addressing serious social themes as well as catch, melodious pop songs. 2014 - Band formed 2015 - Release of 'Songs Of Absolution' album [27 June] - Release of 'Just Say So' single 2016 - Release of 'The Autumn House' album [14 October] |
